Grandma Pays a Visit

Shortly after Grandad headed back to Dallas Grandma flew out for a visit. I asked that she bring a pair of jeans for Moses as his were quickly becoming high waters. In true, doting Grandma fashion she arrived with more than one pair of jeans... and shirts and pants and onsies and a fabulous hat (to which we will pay tribute later). Thanks, Grandma! As evidenced in the photos below, your taste in little boy clothes is most excellent!

Here's the happy couple at church. It used to be tradition to remove one's hat when in church, but that was before hats were so cute.

Grandma managed to sneak in a little work while she was here so we all got to visit the CTV studios above Robson Street. (Moses really isn't that big--the TV camera adds 10 pounds.)

Moses gets his hands on everything these days, but this time he was supposed to tear up the paper. Here he is opening a gift from Grandma. What could it be?

"Mother Goose! My Favourite!" he exclaimed.

Crackin' up at Dairy Queen.

We celebrated my birthday at DQ and since my mother in law is also a card carrying member of the chocoholic club she had no qualms about pampering me with a brownie batter blizzard with 2 (!) extra toppings.

Poor kid, no blizzard for Moses. He only got to eat squash or carrots or sweet potato...or some blended orange substance. He doesn't know any better yet!

No visit with Grandma would be complete without Diet Coke. Turns out it's not just a drink, it's also a toy! Thanks for the visit, Grandma! We'll see you and Grandpa Bruce in Chicago for Christmas soon!

The Long and Short of It

I admit it. I am chicken when it comes to my hair. It's not that I think that I've "arrived" at what I want, it's just that I'm remedial, to say the least, when it comes to accomplishing my imagined style. And since the biggest change I've ever made in my hairstyle was to change my part (whoop-de-doo) six years ago, I thought that it was high time to do something new. Anything new, for crying out loud!

Here we are! A just-past-the-chin angled bob. This picture was taken just minutes after I pronounced myself 'ready'. Sadly, it doesn't last long because frizz and Moses' hands take over. Haven't quite figured out the best way to manage it yet...

Please note my lovely attire--chosen lovingly for me by Cindy and Kathy from church on the occasion of my 30th birthday. Thanks, gals! You're excellent shoppers!

And here we are curly. Note the look of exquisite concentration as I try to snap my portrait. It's harder than it looks! :) I had my hair cut at the end of October and it's already growing so fast. I've never had the experience of needing to 'maintain' a cut. Hmmm....

Oh, Dear Lord

Please excuse my absence from the blog as of late. Besides being busy making large (read: astonishing) amounts of pear and apple sauce, when you see the photo posts below I think you will understand.

I was startled to walk into Moses' room today to find him standing up and clutching the baby monitor in his pudgy little hand. We promptly changed the location of the monitor and I thought to myself, "Oh, dear Lord, it has begun."

Fearless and laughing when he falls this is a skill that we keep practicing over and over and over and over and over....

On his 8 month birthday Moses decided to graduate from scooting to crawling almost as if he chose the date so we would remember it. A mere three days later and we're pulling ourselves up. At this rate he'll be getting his driver's license by December 1st. Oh, dear Lord, it has begun.
