June was a big month for the Rios household. The two biggest things to report are that we said goodbye to diapers and hello to a twin-sized bed all in the same day (I know, commit me, I'm crazy)! Moses has done remarkably well with both of these transitions although we are still getting used to these changes, some days more than others.

Here's the mostly finished product sans boy. The light blue comforter, though it works in the scheme of the room, will be covered with the duvet cover that I plan to make someday soon. Soon could be in 2013.

We spent lots of time in the bathroom reading on the potty, cheering over successes and eating lots of congratulatory M&Ms. (I think so many moms use the "M&M" method that there's really an untouched marketing angle there...) We love this triumphant grin!

We have boarded the Thomas train and Moses is pictured tanked out on Mommy. Thomas' sidekick Percy is also pictured.
We are not as into stickers as we used to be but boy, when we are into them, we are INTO them. All at once. And apparently so is everybody else, including resident hippos.(Not pictured are my be-stickered legs and socks...and floor...and table...)
Moses loves to bring his etch-a-sketch to us and have us draw things for him. Jeremy gets requests for his special Trogdor dinosaurs. I get requests for "happy" animals of various kinds. Anything that I draw is supposed to be topped off with a smiley face. Has Moses been watching Bob Ross and his happy trees while I'm not watching?

The mystery of what happens in the washing machine has been unveiled. Moses used to be my enthusiastic laundry helper but now that he's been enlightenedhe's moved on to other water activities...
...namely, playing "watersink", which is exactly what you'd think it would be. My window of opportunity to do dishes is during this "watersink" time. However, Moses requests so many cups, spoons, etc. for his water play that I end up with half a sink of new disheswhen it's all said and done. Ah well.
Moses strongly dislikes getting his clothes wet, hence he's pictured shirtless in these watersink photos. He usually starts off with a shirt and then comes to me proclaiming "my wet!" and tries to take off his clingy wet shirt by himself. Then he happily goes back to drinking 'yummy' water from the soap dish--yuck!

We have been blessed with kind landlords who graciously share the backyardand accompanying kid stuff with us.
Sweet friend Cindy patiently played with Moses on Saturday mornings and gave me some wonderful, creative ideas when it comes to playing with the aquadoodle mat.
We finger painted and q-tip painted and Mommy secretly pondered the 'worth it' ratio when it came to set up/clean up time vs. actual time spent finger painting. We have grown though because we no longer treat the paints like edible condiments.(Note for any other mommies that view this blog: Whenever I see posts of what other moms do with their kids during the day I usually start feeling like a bad mom that doesn't do enough stuff with her kid. Sometimes I think these photos leave us with a distorted view of how long we are actually doing said activities. You may look at these finger painting photos and think we spent a blissful afternoon full of this one activity. Reality: 10-15 minutes tops. Literally a snapshot in our day! Just thought I'd put that out there! :) )
Cheese graters make excellent bath toys especially because they resemble back-hoes. All the better to "coop" (scoop) the water with.What better way to end the month's summary than ye olde bath time photo.
