Baby's due date is October 12th or 13th although I like my friend Emily's sentiment that we should do away with exact dates and say things like, "Your baby will arrive in the fall." At least that's what I've been telling Moses and Cates. It's a lot easier to explain "in the fall" or "when the leaves start to change colour" or "when the weather starts to get cooler" than "9 months" to children who ask every day if baby brother is coming. Since this is likely the last post I'll get to before baby makes his entrance, here are some recent photos:
Colour palette chosen for Rios baby #3.
Many evenings of obsessive knitting later...
What is childhood without licking batter from a beater?
Enjoying the back porch in the summer sun. So thankful for the gift of a pre-loved water table.
The Star Wars obsession continues. Moses playing with his ATATs in the "snow battle" (flour on an activity tray).
Sorting out Compare Bears by colour and enjoying every minute of it.
Playing on Mom & Dad's bed. Moses is pretending to be a turtle with our comforter as his shell and Cates is reading from her children's illustrated Bible.
Trying on selections from our fall wardrobe all at once.
A moment worth recording twice.
Or three times.
We live on the busiest cul-de-sac in Surrey, I think. There's a construction site near by so we get big vehicles (plus questionable neighbourhood traffic) up and down our street on a very regular basis.
Gazing out of our second story window.
The kids' room in its as-good-as-it's-going-to-get-for-now state. (Note, Jeremy built the low toy shelf on the left. I know. Impressive.) Eventually I'd like the room to be a pale blue with perhaps some DIY board and batten detailing along the wall below the window.
Celebrating our very first "box day" as new-comers to Sonlight homeschool curriculum.
Moses in his "sailboat". The best part of this is that he let me read Cynthia Rylant's Lighthouse books to him while he sailed. They have been a great transition step between picture books and chapter books which will be coming soon in our read-alouds.
The first thing that made our new apartment feel like home: our library book shelves!!!
Family 'portrait' sans Jeremy.
This picture is blurry but I like it because it captures how Cates looks at us most of the time.
Playing a reading game with Moses.
Finally wanting to practice on his balance bike. The boy is desperate for pedals. He'll get there!
Thanks to no screens on our windows Moses has become an expert fly swatter and fly remover.
Moses was here.
