My Favourite Things

Moses has now been introduced to The Sound of Music, the musical where my parents got my name. He refers to the musical as Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do. We only watch as far as So Long, Farewell because there are significantly fewer songs after that, and there's that whole Nazi thing...Moses is only two. There's plenty of time for him to learn about evil and complexity later. :) But while we are watching, Moses is glued to the screen. He even patiently watches the credits at the beginning. When the ladies in black and white start singing in the abbey he identifies them. "Nuns," he says. And when the children sing the sweetest little smile tugs on the corners of his mouth.
Below he's seen watching My Favourite Things.

After about the third viewing Moses started singing along. His interaction is one really good reason I tell Jeremy we should be glad we don't have a swanky flat screen TV! It's hard to see because the screen is washed out but Moses strikes Maria's pose at the end of the song. Make sure your volume is turned up and after the third viewing or so,
you can start singing along, too!

And there you have it.

A little impromptu alphabet run.

Special thanks to Rachel Coleman from Signing Time, India Arie and Elmo for helping Moses get a jump start on his abcdefg's.

Those Crazy Rioses

A silly pre-bedtime ritual.

Your guess is as good as mine.

???

First Name Basis

Apparently, our child thinks we are hippy parents. In addition to his usual repertoire of "Mommy" and "Daddy" Moses has added a couple of new words to his vocabulary.
